I was a long distance runner in high school and have not jogged a day since those times over 20 years ago. But recently, started jogging 1 mile and 2 mile spurts. I have been finding different parks and trails around town. Places I did not know existed. You are correct. I didn't pick it up after all these years as a diet plan or punishment. It sounds crazy but it was more of an opportunity, while my body still can, it's more pleasure now then ever. Your writings also make me think a lot about one of my favorite books as a child. Maniac McGee. Although, I consider you more McGee then Maniac. Very Impressive.

Good luck Ryan! I'm in a similar spot. I set a goal of running a race in May - signed up and everything, so I couldn't quit. Although I came back to running primarily to get in shape, based on some good advice, I've tried to find enjoyment in the ordinary runs rather than seeing the race as the payoff. So far so good, but relatively mild Oct & Nov have made it easy. Now comes winter...
